Longwood and Suffolk Police to Discuss 'The Ugly Truth' of Drug Addiction.The District and the Suffolk County Police Department invite community members to “The Ugly Truth,” a heroin and prescription drug education and awareness program at Longwood Middle School on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 7:00 p.m.  The program is appropriate for those ages 15 and older and will guide the community on what they need to know about drug prevention and awareness. Child care will be available.

Presentations will be given by the Suffolk County Police Department Community Relations Bureau, Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, Suffolk County Police Academy’s EMT Unit and the Suffolk County Department of Mental Hygiene.  

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to participate in a NARCAN training session and take home a free kit.

Operation Medicine Cabinet will be collecting expired or unwanted prescription medications for safe disposal by the Suffolk County Police Department. Those that wish to take part are asked to remove pills from bottles or blister packaging and place in a zip-lock type bag.

Drug treatment professionals will be in attendance, including Maryhaven, Pederson-Krag, Sunshine Prevention, Horizons, YMCA, Outreach, Seafield, F.I.S.T, and Nar-Anon to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient resources.
