Albert Carrabus

Albert Carrabus was born in 1919 in
Flushing New York. He is the second son born to John and Josephine
Carrabus. The family moved to Middle Island in 1932. Albert attended
Port Jefferson High School with his brother Dominic. He also helped
his parents work their farm prior to entering the service. Albert
enlisted in the Army on June
~
1944 and was sent to Camp Upton in
Yaphank, New York. For his service he was awarded the World War II
Service Lapel Button. He was discharged from the service on January
7, 1945. After his discharge he settled in Middle Island on the
family’s farm. He remained there for the rest of his life. Albert
died in March 1993 after a long illness.
