On Monday May 28th, 2007 the Longwood World War II

at Bartlett Pond Park. The monument lists the names of the men and
women of the Longwood Community who served their country. The event
was attended by over 350 members of the community.
The memorial, proudly situated at Bartlett Pond Park
The Middle Island and Ridge Fire Departments placed a beautiful flag
over Middle Country Road. As you came over the hill towards the park,
you could not help but feel a sense of pride as you saw the flag flying
over the road.
Members of the Wittschack family place a wreath at the base of the
monument in honor of their Uncle, Rudolph Wittschack who was killed
during a bombing mission over the Truk Islands.
