Board Adopts Resolution Opposing HPV LegislationAt the Thursday, December 12 meeting, the Longwood Board of Education adopted a resolution opposing the addition of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Influenza vaccines as requirements for students attending public schools.

The BOE also submitted a letter to elected officials urging them to oppose the amendment to Section 2164 of the state Public Health Law.

“At Longwood, we value individualized education and, in the same vein, strongly believe decisions regarding whether a child should obtain these immunizations should be individualized based upon the expert medical advice of the child’s physician with the final decision made by their parents or guardians,” the letter stated.
