Coram Elementary School Teacher selected as a “Bright Light” by Suffolk ASSETJon Falk, a fourth-grade teacher and technology mentor at Coram Elementary School, was recently selected as a “Bright Light” by Suffolk ASSET (Association of Suffolk Supervisors for Educational Technologies) for his use of integrating innovative technology in the classroom. Mr. Falk was honored, along with several educators from Suffolk County, at Suffolk ASSET’s annual Bright Lights’ Luncheon held at the Timber Point Country Club on January 18, 2018.

Mr. Falk was recognized for his facilitation of the Districtwide technology integration project entitled, The Google Drive Collaborative. This year, the project will provide 1,000 second-, third- and fourth-grade students from all four elementary schools, with the opportunity to work together virtually.

The project integrates multidisciplinary study, incorporating ELA, science and social studies with 21st Century technological literacy and collaborative skills. Students were engaged with enriching, content-based materials according to their abilities and interests.

“I look at this award as a testament to the amazing things we all can do when we work together,” Mr. Falk said. "I am so grateful to work in a school district that supports and encourages teachers to collaborate and develop opportunities for all students.”
