High School FBLA Students Place at LI CompetitionA group of 37 Longwood High School students recently competed at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Conference with 23 students placing in the top five in their respective competitions.  FBLA is a student business organization that helps prepare students for careers in business.

Congratulations to the following students: Accounting - Danielle Tappen, 2nd and Corinne Berchtold, 3rd; Advertising - Samantha Lieberman, 1st; Banking and Financial Systems - Christopher Siebor, 3rd; Basic Decision Making - Xavier Thompson, 4th; Business Communications - Gabryella Garrido, 4th; Business Law - Steven Murphy, 1st and Melissa Bruce, 4th; Client Services - David Batista, 5th; Economics - Steven Murphy, 4th; Entrepreneurship - Omar Iqbal, 4th; Hospitality Management - Shreya Patel, 1st; Introduction to Business - Javairia Chaudhry, 3rd; Introduction to Public Speaking - Jacob Shapiro, 2nd; Job Interview - Arian Peterkin, 5th; Management Decision Making - Dora Philips, 4th; Marketing - Cynthia Romero, 3rd; Zachary Iannotta, 3rd; Personal Finance - Christopher Beck, 2nd; Public Speaking - Meagan Reynoso, 1st; Technology Concepts - Chowdhury An-Noor, 1st and  Rheise Turner, 2nd; Securities and Investments - Adriel Williams, 2nd; and Word Processing - Emily Dang, 1st.

“We are extremely proud of the students’ hard work to prepare for this competition as well as their commitment to FBLA,” said co-advisors Kerri Commander and Jessica Gartland.  “The high school’s FBLA has approximately 100 members this year, and the group has participated in numerous school and community events.  We’re looking forward to participating in Longwood Day this May.”
