Longwood High School Low/Moderate-Risk SportsOn Monday, January 4, Longwood High School began low to moderate-risk winter sports for the 2020-2021 school year. The Section XI winter sport season runs from January 4 - February 27 and includes boys winter track, girls winter track, boys bowling, girls bowling, and boys swimming and diving (independent).

Consistent with recommendations from the Section XI Task Force to minimize the impact of COVID-19 transmission and contact tracing protocols, spectators are not permitted to attend scheduled contests.

On Friday, December 11, NYSPHSAA announced the cancellation of the 2021 Winter State Championships, as well as the continued postponement of all high-risk sports until authorization is granted by state officials.

At this time, there is no definitive timeline for authorization of high- risk sports, which includes boys and girls basketball, wrestling, and competitive cheerleading. Early winter season at the junior high includes boys basketball, girls volleyball, and competitive cheerleading.  Late winter season includes girls basketball and wrestling.  Therefore, all scheduled Junior High School winter sports are not permitted to compete at this time.
