Remembering Dr. Louis V. NanniniThe district is saddened to announce the passing of the district's first superintendent, Dr. Louis V. Nannini.

In 1959, school districts 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 were consolidated to form the Middle Island Central School District #12, and Dr. Nannini was appointed as the first district principal (superintendent).

Dr. Nannini had a clear vision to address the needs of all students: space, expansion of a quality faculty, a coordinated curriculum, and creating a path of cohesiveness for communities spanning 53 square miles.

In 2015, the district dedicated the Central Administration Campus in his honor. Through his vision and pride, his legacy will continue to shine throughout our school community.

"Dr. Nannini set the standards for the culture that our district celebrates today," said Superintendent Dr. Lonergan.  "Our diversity and support of one another was his design, and he will sorely be missed."

We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
