Ridge Elementary School Welcomes New Assistant PrincipalThe Longwood Central School District has appointed Krystina White to the position of assistant principal for Ridge Elementary School, effective September 1, 2018.

Most recently, Ms. White served as fifth-grade Summer Transition Program Facilitator at Longwood Middle School where she assisted in the development of literacy, mathematics, and pro-social curriculum.  Since 2015, she also worked as a learning specialist at Ridge Elementary where her responsibilities included the collaboration of instructional strategies and techniques to meet the individual needs of students.

Before her employment at Longwood, she served as a special education teacher for grades K-5 at the New York City Department of Education, where she provided specially designed supplemental instruction while modifying curriculum.  She also served as the Child Study Team Chairperson, Academic Intervention Services Chairperson, and Literary Coach. 

“I am honored to work with such a dedicated school community,” said Ms. White.  “I’m looking forward to working with our outstanding students and teachers to continue building upon the strong, positive relationships that support the academic, social, and emotional development of students.”

Ms. White received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Social Sciences from Dowling College and earned a master’s degree in Teaching Literacy from Touro College, and has Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University.  She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Education, Administrative and Instructional Leadership at St. John’s University.

“Ms. White’s professional experience has afforded her the knowledge and skills necessary to step into the assistant principal role and help to promote student learning and growth,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael R. Lonergan.  “We’re happy to have her join our school leadership team to continue our efforts to transform teaching and learning that benefits every child.”
