Seniors Explore Careers in ManufacturingThrough partnerships with local manufacturing companies, Longwood High School graduating seniors are exploring career opportunities that can lead to full-time employment.

Recently, Class of 2020 graduate Chloe Cabral was featured in a virtual Long Island Manufacturing Day event highlighting her career opportunity with leading manufacturing industry, East/West Industries (click this link for the video).
In June 2020, Chloe was accepted into the East/West Industries paid summer internship program, and after exploring several job opportunities, she was offered a full-time permanent position in September.
"The school's partnership was eye-opening," said Chloe. "Between the family-like community at East/West and the enjoyable work we do, which is very involved, I can see myself staying here."
As part of the Longwood High School Academies, potential student-candidates develop resumes, advance interview techniques, and receive an overview of job responsibilities. Eligible candidates have an opportunity to go directly into the workforce after graduation to develop relationships with companies that will invest in their future.

"The program is a direct path to emerging partnerships with local companies to provide opportunities for our graduating seniors, as well as the continuation of a school to industry pipeline," said Daniel Tapia, Academies of Longwood Liaison.

In addition to East/West, students are exploring career opportunities at Framerica, a Yaphank manufacturer.
In the spring of 2019, Longwood's partnership with Framerica led to students receiving paid internships, as well as permanent employment.
"The first group of our 'ambassadors' began at Framerica where they helped launch the program," stated Gloria DiLeonardo, School-to-Career Coordinator. "Chloe's story is very compelling, and we're so pleased that East/West is investing in her future."
The High School Academies continues to build upon the multi-year program, as well as develop relationships with companies that will invest in our students' future.
