LCSD Welcomes Coordinator of Special EducationLongwood Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Foster to the position of Coordinator of Special Education.

Mr. Foster has served as a special education teacher at Longwood High School since 2016. Throughout his tenure, he has held numerous leadership roles, including the coordination of the New Teacher Orientation 2020, the High School Empire State After-School Program, district anti-bullying initiatives, staff development, and supported student transition to full-time distance learning. Prior to his position at Longwood, Mr. Foster served as a special education teacher at the Eastport-South Manor Central School District.  

“We are happy to welcome Mr. Foster in his new role as Coordinator of Special Education,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael R. Lonergan. “His background in the area of special education is invaluable to our mission to ensure every child realizes their full potential.”

Mr. Foster received his bachelor’s degree in History and  Social Studies Education from Hofstra University and his master’s degree in Teaching Students with Disabilities from Long Island University. Mr. Foster is a recent graduate from Stony Brook University, where he earned his post-graduate certificate in School Building and District Leadership.
